Binabasa mo nga ‘to ngayon, diba? Pero good ‘yan! Dahil instead of incessantly scrolling through social media, why not take a pause and see how you can enjoy Valentine’s Day… kahit single ka!

Since Valentine’s is not just for couples, bibigyan ka namin ng ideas kung ano’ng activities ang puwede mong gawin today. At dahil bawal tayong lumabas per Kim Chiu (Chour!), we’ve listed some indoor activities that will surely take your mind away from longing to have a jowa now.

Here are five activities to help you celebrate Valentine’s Day at home.

Single on Valentine’s Activity #1: Have a date with yourself.

You can try eating in a new restaurant, but always follow the COVID-19 safety guidelines. If ayaw mong lumabas, you can cook a meal for yourself, or take out any food you’ve been craving. Gorabels! This is a sign. Chour lungs.

You can get to know yourself, too. Or write a love letter for yourself. This is one way of reconnecting with the inner you.

Sabi pa nga sa isang article ng The New York Times, “Choosing to spend time doing things by yourself can have mental, emotional, and social benefits.”

Dagdag pa nila, “In a culture where we often confuse being alone for loneliness, the ability to appreciate time by ourselves prevents us from processing the experience as a negative thing. In fact, getting better at identifying moments when we need solitude to recharge and reflect can help us better handle negative emotions and experiences, like stress and burnout,” said Emily Roberts, a psychotherapist.

That’s why you shouldn’t feel bad about being alone. Nakabubuti naman kasi itong gawin paminsan-minsan.

Single on Valentine’s Activity #2: Schedule a virtual celebration with your single friends.

Kung ayaw mo namang i-celebrate ang Valentine’s Day mag-isa, puwede mong i-invite ang friends mong mga single rin to a virtual party. Damay-damay na ‘to! You can even share this article to them so that they will also have an idea on what to do for this day. Ipauso natin ang celebrating Valentine’s with friends! Pero pandemic Valentine’s muna, ha?

At your virtual party, puwede kayong mag-chikahan, or do fun activities together. This can also be a good excuse to ask kung ano’ng mga ganap nila sa buhay. You can catch up with them, play online games, and even pray for each other’s love life! Why not coconut, diba?

Single on Valentine’s Activity #3: Prepare nicely-wrapped chocolates and flowers for your family.

Try to look around you.

#NoToBullying tayo dito.

And if you grew up with grandparents and relatives, think about how they have loved and embraced you. Or kung sinuman ang pamilya na kinalakihan mo, notice how they take care of you the best way they know how.

The point is, even before dumating si jowa, may mga tao nang minahal ka sa simula pa lang. They are your family. So, to show that you love them, too, Valentine’s Day is a good reason to make them feel loved.

Single on Valentine’s Activity #4: Do intentional acts of kindness.

We know that almost everyone struggled ever since the pandemic happened.

People who don’t have a roof over their head, who don’t have enough food on the table, and are the most vulnerable today.

If you want to give love and have enough to spare, sila ang mas nangangailangan, Breaker.

And alam mo ba na giving can also benefit you?

According sa isang article ng Cleveland Clinic, “Studies show that giving can actually boost your physical and mental health.”

Dagdag pa nila, “Researchers also say that people who give their time to help others through community and organizational involvement have greater self-esteem, less depression and lower stress levels than those who don’t.”

So, kung naghahanap ka ng taong gusto mong pagtuunan ng pansin this Valentine’s Day, you have many options. You can even give free food packs or snacks sa labas ng bahay niyo. Or you can distribute outside, but again, paalala lang, please follow the COVID-19 safety guidelines. Ingat ka rin!

Single on Valentine’s Activity #5: Spend time with the LORD.

Dahil pinag-uusapan na rin naman natin ang love, it will be almost impossible not to talk about the LORD. Cheret!

Today can be a good opportunity to spend quality time with the LORD, Breaker. You have been so busy the past few days, but now, you have an excuse to pause and talk to Him.

Kausapin mo si LORD. You can ask Him random things. You can say what’s on your mind, and ask His guidance about things that have been bothering you. The best way to end Valentine’s Day, the so-called “Lovers Day,” is to spend it with the One who loves you the most.

If you want to get to know Him, click this link because this is specially for you. This is the best gift you’ll receive this Valentine’s Day.

So, anuena? Let us know what you think about these activities, Breaker. Kaya naman bang gawin today?
