Nature has its way of making us feel alive.

But aside from that, nature also reveals to us the beauty of the LORD. His glory, power, magnificence, and above all, His love.

At dahil ka-se-celebrate lang natin ng Earth Day, let’s uncover how God uses creation to reveal His nature to us!

How God Uses Creation to Reveal His Nature #1: The LORD as a Gardener of our lives.

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:1-5, NIV).

This also applies to us, and to you. Kadalasan masakit ito, but this is for your own good, too.

Like bad habits, addictions, gossiping, lying, and the likes? Also, at the same time, the LORD cultivates the branches that will bring more fruit in your life.

Sa Scripture rin na ito, may reminder na kalakip about remaining in the LORD. Because “no branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine.” For us humans to truly live, lahat tayo kailangang connected kay LORD.

‘Wag kang mag-disconnect sa Kaniya, Breaker. Because apart from Him, you can do nothing. At ayaw mo itong mangyari sa ‘yo, ‘di ba?

How God Uses Creation to Reveal His Nature #2: The LORD as a Promise Keeper

The rainbow that I have put in the sky will be my sign to you and to every living creature on earth. It will remind you that I will keep this promise forever. When I send clouds over the earth, and a rainbow appears in the sky, I will remember my promise to you and to all other living creatures. Never again will I let floodwaters destroy all life. When I see the rainbow in the sky, I will always remember the promise that I have made to every living creature. The rainbow will be the sign of that solemn promise” (Genesis 9:12-17, CEV).

Before pa nauso ang singsing bilang symbol ng pagmamahalan, nauna na ang rainbow ni LORD as a sign of His promise to humanity. It was like a seal to a promise.

The LORD said this after He washed the earth with flood. Noong lumabas na sina Noah sa ark, he built an altar for the LORD and it pleased Him.

He uses a visual representation for us to remember. It is really true that, “There’s always a rainbow after the rain.” This is how He reassures humanity that He will keep His promise forever. Knowing this, puwede mo itong maging sense of comfort to uplift you when you’re feeling down.

And like how the rainbow appears after a storm, His promises will also abound through our ups and downs. Our sure and secure foundation is that, “God is always at work for the good of everyone who loves him. They are the ones God has chosen for his purpose” (Romans 8:28, CEV).

How God Uses Creation to Reveal His Nature #3: The LORD as a Way Maker

“Then Moses put out his hand over the sea. And the Lord moved the sea all night by a strong east wind. So the waters were divided. And the people of Israel went through the sea on dry land. The waters were like a wall to them on their right and on their left” (Exodus 14:21-22, NLV).

Maybe you’re familiar with this story, about how the LORD parted a sea and made a dry land so His people could escape their enemy.

gods creation 4

And base sa Scripture na ‘to, makikita mo talaga how powerful the LORD is, that even the sea obeyed Him! Sobrang galing lang talaga.

But you know what’s even more amazing? It’s the truth that the God who parted the sea is the same God who wants to tell you right now that He loves you!

He is the very God who made a way for you, when you thought that you reached a dead end. He is the LORD you are serving and following, and He didn’t change! He can still part the sea of challenges that try to overwhelm you, He can still calm the waters of depression that wants to drown you, and He can certainly dry the river of tears that you’ve cried.

You just have to allow Him to be the LORD in your life.

All of creation points back to Him. Aside from how He used a vine to tell us that He is the Gardener of our lives, how He chose the rainbow to display His unwavering promise, and how He parted the sea so we wouldn’t drown, there are many other instances where He used creation to reveal who He is.

gods creation 5

He calmed the storm. (Mark 4:39)

He walked on water. (Matthew 14:25)

He cared for the sparrow. (Matthew 6:26)

He permitted the donkey to talk. (Numbers 22:28)

He created the world within six days. (Genesis 2:1)

He appeared in flames of fire in a bush. (Exodus 3:2)

He cursed the fig tree for not yielding fruit. (Mark 11:14)

He commanded a big fish to swallow a person. (Jonah 1:17)

All these, and many more, were done by the LORD to point His people back to Him.

And the final touch was when His only begotten Son was treated as a sacrificial Lamb to die for humanity’s sin. Because aside from being the LORD of lords and King of kings, He is also Love personified. God turned into human, without sin yet made sin, and wore a crown of thorns.

All creation points to the only truth – JESUS is the LORD and Savior of the world.
