Dahil alam naming mahilig ka sa love stories and K-drama, we’ve gathered here some epic love stories from the best-selling book of all time, the Holy Bible.

Can the modern generation relate to their ways? You’ll know as you read this.

Love Story in the Bible #1: Samson and Delilah’s story teaches us to draw strength from the LORD.

Samson was the infamous long-haired man, and was also known for his unrivaled physical strength. He tore a lion apart using his bare hands, nakawala siya galing sa dalawang lubid na itinali sa kaniya na para bang sinulid lamang ito, and he also killed thousands of Philistines without any help, kundi si LORD lamang.

But aside from his physical strength, he was also known for falling in love with the wrong women.

She was on the enemy’s side, and the worst part was, Samson knew about it.

Bible love stories 1

They weren’t married, but they have had alone and intimate moments together.

That’s why he gave in, and told her all his heart, “Ni minsa’y hindi pa nasasayaran ng panggupit ang aking buhok.

Right there and then, Samson’s strength left him.

And the reason why Delilah did that? It was all because of money! While Samson loved her more than he should and bared his heart to her, Delilah betrayed him and sold him for her selfish gain.

Sobrang nakalulungkot, ‘no? Even though Samson was gifted with extraordinary physical strength, his heart wasn’t steadfast in the LORD, the most important of all. Sabi pa nga sa Proverbs 4:23 (NIV), “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”

And for one last time, he asked the LORD for strength so he could avenge himself.

Bible love stories 2

He showed up, yet again. Despite what Samson did, the LORD gave him the strength he needed… until his last breath. Samson failed God, but He didn’t fail him.

This is a reminder for all of us, that in our pursuit to be acclaimed as a strong person, we should put more emphasis on how steadfast our love is for the LORD. And it can be done by constantly and intentionally choosing Him over everything.

Love Story in the Bible #2: Ruth and Boaz’s story teaches us the gift of second chances if we remain faithful and loyal.

When Naomi’s sons died, naiwan sa kaniya ang dalawang daughters-in-law niya. Sina Ruth at Orpah.

And she said, “Don’t force me to leave you; don’t make me go home. Where you go, I go; and where you live, I’ll live. Your people are my people, your God is my god; where you die, I’ll die, and that’s where I’ll be buried, so help me God—not even death itself is going to come between us!” Ruth 1:16-17 (MSG)

‘Till death do us part lang ang peg ni Ruth, ‘no? Naririnig natin ‘to sa kasalan, but never sa mag-biyenan!

Little did they know that Ruth’s loyalty would soon give her a second chance.

A second chance in love, in an abundant life, and in having a family of her own. Chour!

Enter Boaz.

Mayaman. Maginoo. Respetado. Famous. May relationship kay LORD. In short, the man of your dreams. LOL

Bible love stories 3

One day, isang araw, usa ka adlaw…

Chinika naman ng katiwala kung sino si Ruth, and Boaz recognized her for what she did for her mother-in-law. He praised her, and she gained favor not just from his sight, but also from the people in their town. Ruth had an outstanding reputation.

Ruth 2:11-13 (MBB05)

Lalim ng Tagalog, ‘no?

Bible love stories 4

Long story short, because of Naomi’s plan and guidance, Ruth and Boaz tied the knot, and they were blessed with a son.

The lesson? Be a person of virtue, who stays faithful and loyal even when it’s hard to do so. Because you’ll never know what kind of opportunities and chances will be presented to you if you remain faithful.

Love Story in the Bible #3: Jacob’s love for Rachel teaches us how to persevere despite deceit.

Before nauso ang mga love triangle sa K-drama, nangyari na ‘to noon pa!

When Jacob left his home, he went to his uncle Laban’s place, his mother’s brother. Laban had two daughters, Leah and Rachel. Although Leah’s eyes were expressive, Rachel was more attractive to Jacob.

Jacob stayed there for a while, and helped Laban with his everyday tasks.

At dahil attracted si Jacob kay Rachel, he offered to serve Laban for seven years straight, in exchange for Rachel’s hand in marriage.

Laban agreed, and Jacob served him for seven years. But for Jacob, parang katumbas lang ng ilang araw ang taon dahil sa sobrang pagmamahal niya kay Rachel.

Sabay-sabay tayong sumigaw  ng, “SANA ALL!” May ganito pa kaya ngayon? Eh, kahit one week nga from Shopee and Lazada, hirap na maghintay ang mga tao. Taon pa kaya?

Anyway.

Bible love stories 5

After seven years, naningil na si Jacob. And when the night came, Jacob slept with his wife.

But it wasn’t Rachel. It was Leah.

At nalaman niya lamang ito kinaumagahan.

Just imagine how shocked he was! He worked hard for years, only to be deceived that way!

But Laban argued that the eldest should be married off first, before the youngest. And he negotiated that Jacob should work for another seven years para kay Rachel. For real this time.

If you were Jacob, what would you do? Should you trust Laban again?

Well, Jacob really wanted Rachel because he agreed.

And finally, after fourteen years in total, Jacob married Rachel.

Now, the question is, would you do the same? Can you love a person that much? And how about Leah, can you relate or empathize with her?

Anuman ang iyong sagot, one thing’s for sure, worth it ‘yun para kay Jacob.

He loved Rachel so much that he was willing to persevere despite being deceived.

It is Jesus’ love for you.

Kung napapansin mo, Breaker, walang perpektong tao kaya walang perpektong istorya

Samson was betrayed. Ruth was a widow. Jacob was deceived.

You know who else can relate to them? It’s Jesus.

He was denied. Mocked. Beaten. Crucified. All because of love.

And like all the stories mentioned above – how Samson got his vengeance, how Ruth remarried, and how Jacob finally got the love of his life – Jesus was resurrected from the dead.

These are stories that were considered to be failed attempts at love, but became the greatest triumphs in history.
