Ikaw ba ito?

You feel panicky, anxious, or depressed pag hindi ka nakakapaglaro ng favorite games mo, pag hindi ka makapag-shopping, or nagke-crave ka at hindi ka makakain.

Iniisip mo na this is something that you “HAVE” to do.

You indulge yourself in these things kahit na malagay sa panganib ang buhay mo.

If you say yes to one of these, then you have the signs or symptoms of someone who has behavioral addiction.

Para mas maintindihan mo. Let’s look at the definition of Behavioral Addiction.

Behavioral Addiction or sometimes called Process Addiction is “Any compulsive behavior that interferes with everyday functioning and causes significant and continuing negative problems or consequences,” according to Beach House Find Freedom in their article What is Process Addiction and its Ties to Substance Abuse?.

So that includes activities like internet, sex, shopping, video game, gambling, food, exercise, work, and so on.

Ilan pa sa mga symptoms ay pagiging dependent mo dito to cope with your emotions and to feel “normal”, sobrang nahihirapan ka na itigil ito even though you want to stop, in denial or tinatago mo ‘yung problemang dinudulot nito sa’yo, says Elizabeth Hartney, PhD from Verywell Mind in her article An Overview of Behavioral Addiction.

‘Yung mga bagay na typical mo lang na ginagawa in your day-to-day but can destroy you in the long run.

But this is not a hopeless case. Your condition can be treated.

Kung alam mo sa sarili mo na ito ‘yung pinagdadaanan mo. Do not be afraid to ask for help.

According to Dr. Hartney, you may consult addiction professionals and clinics.

Pwede ka rin pumunta sa isang skilled psychiatrist or psychologist na tumutulong sa mga tao para malagpasan ang kanilang emotional difficulties at syempre evident ‘yung pagbabago sa buhay ng kanilang pasyente.

You may undergo cognitive behavioral therapy, one-on-one or couples counseling, medications, group therapy, or self-help groups.

Tama ka, hindi ito madali.

Even the thought of giving up your behavioral addiction kills you.

It’s true that you may experience withdrawal if you try to avoid or resist it. Like depression, anxiety, or irritability.
