The LORD, at some point, experienced every single difficulty that you experienced or is still experiencing right now.
He is not a God na walang pakiramdam at manhid, nor is He a God na malayo at tinitingala mo lang sa langit. Dahil ang totoo niyan, He also went through worse situations and experienced how it felt to be miserable. And because of that, He can empathize with you.
Noong tumalikod ang Kaniyang chosen people sa Kaniya, it broke His heart.
“Israel, I can’t let you go. I can’t give you up. How could I possibly destroy you as I did the towns of Admah and Zeboiim? I just can’t do it. My feelings for you are much too strong” (Hosea 11:8,CEV).
“When Jesus saw that Mary and the people with her were crying, he was terribly upset and asked, “Where have you put his body?” They replied, “Lord, come and you will see.” Jesus started crying, and the people said, “See how much he loved Lazarus” (John 11:33-36, CEV).
“Jesus walked on a little way before he knelt down and prayed, “Father, if you will, please don’t make me suffer by drinking from this cup. But do what you want, and not what I want” (Luke 22:41-42, CEV).
These scenarios tell us that the LORD went through tragic moments, too. That’s why, He knows how you feel and wants you to break through.
How?
In one of CBN Asia’s online shows, Whatcha Say, Thursday!, kasama natin si Ptr. Ruther Urquia para magbigay ng tips on how to overcome worry and manage stress. Hosted by Jamey Santiago-Manual and Ayie Tinsay, may life lessons sila na ibinahagi rito na siguradong magagamit mo sa pang-araw-araw.
Sa unang tip, simplehan lang muna natin.
Overcome worries and manage stress tip #1: Go, rest.
Believe it or not, humans are designed to rest, and the LORD modeled it when He rested on the seventh day after creating the world.
Diyos na ‘yan, ah. Kaya ‘wag kang ma-guilty na magpahinga, Breaker. Kung may schedule ka para sa gawain mo, schedule a time also to rest.
Sobrang importante nito to the point na nasama siya sa The Ten Commandments.
“You have six days when you can do your work, but the seventh day of each week belongs to me, your God. No one is to work on that day–not you, your children, your slaves, your animals, or the foreigners who live in your towns. In six days I made the sky, the earth, the oceans, and everything in them, but on the seventh day I rested. That’s why I made the Sabbath a special day that belongs to me” (Exodus 20:9-11, CEV).
Sabbath is intended for rest in the LORD.
Overcome worries and manage stress tip #2: Go to your safe place.
Because humans have different personalities, iba iba rin ang ways natin to relieve stress, at iba ang ating safe place.
Katulad ng sabi ni Ruther, nauubos ang kaniyang energy kapag napalilibutan siya ng maraming tao over a long period of time. That’s why kailangan niyang mag-recharge by being alone.
Ikaw, what is your safe place? We encourage you to constantly go back to your safe place to relieve your stress and para maiwasan ang constant worrying.
Go to your safe place, either with people or alone.
Overcome worries and manage stress tip #3: Go to the source of peace.
Sabi ni Ruther, you will be peaceful kapag wala kang problema. Kapag lahat ng gusto mo nasusunod, kapag lahat ng plano mo nangyayari, and when everything is going your way.
But life doesn’t work like that, because most of the time, we don’t know what will happen. We don’t know what the future holds. And this is the common reason why people worry.
The next kind of peace on the other hand, is a peace that surpasses understanding.
It’s the peace that only the Prince of Peace can give, and that is Jesus.
When you go to Him, even if you’re going through difficult times, even if your situation is a mess, and even if you’re filled with uncertainty, you will still have peace – the assurance that even if you don’t know what will happen tomorrow, you know who holds tomorrow.
Overcome worries and manage stress tip #4: Go to the word of the LORD.
Aminin mo man o hindi, ang rason bakit ka na-i-stress at nag-wo-worry ay dahil sa mga naririnig mo sa paligid or sa social media.
Tama kami, ‘no? Pero ang totoo niyan, maraming naka-re-relate rito.
May tinatawag kasi tayong FOMO, or Fear of Missing Out.
From A-Z yarn. Haha!
So instead of constantly asking, “Ano na naman kayang balita ngayon?”, ask, “LORD, what’s Your truth for me? And when you make it a habit, first thing in the morning, your life will become more peaceful and calm.
Goodbye, Stresstabs!
Overcome worries and manage stress tip #5: Go back to that time when the LORD helped you.
Ganito tayo, eh.
Remember and recall what He did for you in the past, and how He rescued you from the misery that you were in.
If you feel worried and stressed, ask yourself why. Is it something na puwede mong ma-control, or is it beyond your control? Either way, the LORD is always willing to help, just go to Him. Walang imposible sa Kaniya.
Go, rest.
Go to your safe place.
Go to the source of peace.
Go to the word of the LORD.
Go back to that time when the LORD helped you.
If you’re worried or stressed, remember this, “God cares for you, so turn all your worries over to him” ( 1 Peter 5:7, CEV).
