Let us guess, may listahan ka na kung ano ang gagawin mo this Holy Week, ‘no?

Gumala sa labas?

Matulog ng matagal?

Catch up sa Netflix?

Or all of the above?

Whatever it is that you want to do, know that we support you because Holy Week is the best time to pause, and to just simply take it all in and be present.

Alam namin na ang madalas mong nakikita sa TV na ginagawa tuwing Holy Week ay ang Ash Wednesday, Penitensya, Palaspas, and fast from consuming meat. These are some of the common Holy Week traditions and practices in the Philippines.

The answer is no.

holy week activities 1

Why? Because Holy Week is supposed to be celebrated! We ought to observe festivities and activities that celebrate what Jesus did. It was during this time when the LORD conquered the world by being nailed on the cross, and defeated death when He resurrected after three days. Who wouldn’t want to celebrate the greatest victory the world has ever heard, right?

And besides, God is full of fun kaya!

Conyo yarn?

At dahil nga valid ang pag-se-celebrate ng Holy Week 2022, here’s a list of activities that you can do either alone or with loved ones.

Celebrate Holy Week Activity #1: Prepare a feast for the family.

Familiar ka ba sa Last Supper and the story behind it? It is called the ‘Last Supper’, or the ‘LORD’s Supper’ because it was the final meal shared by Jesus and the disciples before His crucifixion.

But we’re not telling you to have a final meal with your family!

Because maybe, you have been so busy at work to the point that you no longer have the time to enjoy a meal with your loved ones. And Holy Week is a good excuse to celebrate and have a feast.

Celebrate Holy Week Activity #2: Hunt Easter eggs.

We don’t know if you have tried this pero basically, it’s an outdoor activity played by families every Holy Week, specifically on Easter Sunday.

It’s a game of hiding either real boiled eggs, or plastic eggs na may hidden treasure sa loob. Haha! No pressure, by the way.

Ayon sa History.com, “From a Christian perspective, Easter eggs are said to represent Jesus’ emergence from the tomb and resurrection.”

Celebrate Holy Week Activity #3: Volunteer to help others.

So, dapat holy rin lahat.

Sana inaraw-araw na lang nila, ‘no? 😀

May feeding programs, fund raisings, free medical checkups, community cleanups, and relief good donations.

Ikaw? Ano kaya ang mga puwede mong salihan or suportahan? This is the perfect time to invest on something na ang return or reward ay manggagaling kay LORD.

Here are some verses that will encourage you to give, and know that it’ll never be in vain.

“You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” (2 Corinthians 9:7 NLT)

“The generous soul will be made rich, And he who waters will also be watered himself.” (Proverbs 11:25 NKJV)

“If you give to others, you will be given a full amount in return. It will be packed down, shaken together, and spilling over into your lap. The way you treat others is the way you will be treated.” (Luke 6:38 CEV)

Celebrate Holy Week Activity #4: Clear your mind by cleaning your space.

Ang ibig sabihin nito ay, i-simplify at linisin mo ang space mo like how Marie Kondo does.

Kilala si Marie Kondo bilang isang minimalist. She is a Japanese “celebrity tidying consultant, international best-selling author, and star of Netflix’s Tidying Up With Marie Kondo,” Vox.

Marie Kondo believes that simplifying and organizing are the key to a serene environment. She also believes that anything that doesn’t spark joy, or things from the past that don’t contribute to our lives anymore should be thrown away.

Holy Week is the best time to clear your mind. One way of doing that is clearing your environment, and tidying up your space so you can maximize it the way you want it to be.

Since long weekend naman, why not seize the moment, right?

Celebrate Holy Week Activity #5: Watch “Tanikala: Paghilom” with your loved ones.

CBN Asia’s top-rating made-for-TV movies, Tanikala, will release yet another life-changing film! Ngayong April 15, at 10:30 am on GMA, gaganap ang real-life couple na sina Marco and Lara Quigaman-Alcaraz, as “Toni” and “John.”

In this film, you will witness how the LORD restored broken relationships despite betrayal, infidelity, and unforgiveness.

Find hope even after witnessing your parents’ infidelity, have peace despite knowing your partner’s horrible past, and receive love even after having your heart broken – by watching Paghilom.
