Umiikot ‘to sa story ni Laha, isa siyang Matigsalug girl na hindi naniniwala sa belief ng tribo nila about the Oligase.
Sa sobrang kagustuhan niyang mag-aral, nagrebelde si Laha para i-pursue ‘yung pangarap niyang matuto pero, hindi niya alam na she will face far more evil monsters pagpunta niya sa city!

Oligase fact #2: Oligase’s goal is to shed light on the issues that our indigenous Filipinos in Mindanao face.
Oligase is more than just a film na para ma-entertain ka, Breaker, but it’s for a greater purpose.
Para ‘to maimulat ang mga mata mo at gisingin ka sa katotohanan sa condition ng mga indigenous kababayans natin na walang access sa education and are vulnerable to human trafficking and prostitution of children.
“The viewers will be transported to the world of our Indigenous Peoples. Their thoughts, beliefs and life are so different from ours. I hope as we know them and understand them, our compassion, burden, and love for them will grow,” one of the directors said John Valdes Tan, CBN Asia’s Chief Operating Officer.

Oligase fact #3: Oligase cast are non-actors.

Eto pa ang mas cool, ‘yung mga cast nila ay from the Matigsalug tribe talaga!
“Directing first time actors in very demanding roles can be quite challenging. But the enthusiasm and the hungry-to-learn attitude of the actors produced a believable ensemble performance,” shinare ng isa pang director ng Oligase na si Icko Gonzalez, Special Projects Manager.
Kinwento din ng mga directors how they conducted acting workshops lalo na sa role ni Laha na ginampanan ni Lesslie Joy Pasandog, ang lead actor ng Oligase.
Bakit nila pinush to cast non-actors?
“To shoot in their native dialect plus working with non-actors were huge challenges. But we all believe that we will be closest to authenticity with that decision,” sabi ni John in his interview with Ricky Gallardo in an article CBN Asia’s first film makes it to St. Louis international film fest in BusinessMirror.

Oligase fact #4: Oligase was also officially selected at the 29th Annual Whitaker St. Louis International Film Festival (SLIFF).

It is a regional, internationally themed film event dedicated to exploring cross-cultural understanding through the art of the cinema.
“I am grateful that our film was selected by SLIFF; doubly excited that more people will get to see it. I hope that, like me, with this whole experience, they will have a deeper understanding and appreciation of our brothers and sisters, the Matigsalug,” Icko shared.

Oligase fact #5: Oligase team stayed in the remote mountains to shoot.
Nag-shoot sila doon for a week nang walang malinis na running water, kuryente, at maayos na CR.
Challenging ‘yun pero ‘di ba kapag gusto mo ‘yung ginagawa mo, lahat titiisin at hahamakin mo kasi gusto mo, eh. Mahal mo at may purpose ka.
Oh! Akala mo hugot na naman sa love life mo. Ehem.

Going back, “The logistics and the weather also posed hurdles, but the team made it through with faith and cooperation of everyone involved,” sabi ni John in his interview with Ricky.
Kasama na doon ‘yung pag-akyat-baba nila sa burol buhat-buhat ‘yung mga equipment with the help na rin ng mga villagers doon.
“During post-production, the directors and editors had a hard time editing the footages since these were all in the Matigsalug dialect. Many consultations were held between Manila and Davao to finish the film,” he shared.
