Baka kasi nakipag-break “siya” sa chat kaya tuloy…
Chour!
Pinapa-smile ka lang.
So, ito na nga. Maging clear lang muna tayo that social media is not all bad.
Pero. Pero. Pero.
Ito ang babantayan mo, Breaker.
When it starts to take control over you and you get addicted on social media, ayun na ‘yung harmful.
Narinig mo na ba ‘yung word na dopamine?
May reason kasi why you get addictive by social media and dopamine has something to do with it.
Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that causes you to want, desire, seek out, and search, sabi ni Susan Weinschenk Ph.D. in her article Why We’re All Addicted to Texts, Twitter and Google by Psychology Today.
Natanong mo na ba sa sarili mo bakit ba kating-kati ka to check your FB notification or open your DMs on IG kapag nag-pop up siya sa phone mo?
It’s because your brain releases this chemical called dopamine nga.
The notification sound you get from your social apps enhance the addictive effect.
Tapos nagiging loop ito.
In-explain ni Dr. Weinschenk na “Dopamine starts you seeking, then you get rewarded for the seeking which makes you seek more.”
It’s the reason why it’s more and more difficult not look at your phone kapag tumunog ‘to.
Gets mo?
Ito pa sabi ni Kelly McSweeney by Now. Powered by Northrop Grumman in her article This is Your Brain on Instagram: Effects of Social Media on the Brain, “Spending too much time on social media isn’t just a bad habit; it can have real consequences. Science shows that we are basically carrying around little dopamine stimulators in our pockets, so it’s not surprising that we’re constantly distracted by our phones.”
Napag-connect-connect mo na ba?
Hang in there, Breaker.
May importante ka pang dapat malaman…
So, where does this lead you?
Triggers like envy and self-comparison can come into the picture na puwede pang mag-lead sa depression or worse, suicide.
Social networking site like Facebook trigger the feelings of envy, sabi sa research study If Facebook Use Causes Envy, Depression Could Follow by the University of Missouri.
Puwede kang maka-experience ng symptoms of depression, kapag naiinggit ka sa activities, lifestyle, or accomplishments ng mga FB friends mo.
No judgment here.
The reason why we’re discussing this is to let you know that it’s safe to talk about it if nagsu-struggle kang tunay.
Another is self-comparison.
Kapag lagi mong nakikita ‘yung friends mo on social media enjoying life, it can make you feel that you’re missing out which promotes a “compare and despair” attitude, Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) and the Young Health Movement (YHM) found out in their #StatusOfMind.
When you can’t size up to the unrealistic expectations you see online, it may leave you with feelings of constant pursuit of perfectionism, low self-esteem, and self-consciousness.
Ramdam mo ba ‘to, Breaker?
At, eto pa.
Sabi nila, using more than 1 social media account simultaneously is linked to symptoms of social anxiety.
Daily usage of it for more than 2 hours has been independently connected with high levels of psychological distress, poor self-rating of mental health, and suicidal thoughts.
Okay. Hinga ka muna.

Depression is not a joke.
